Being a cigarette smoker reduces your life expectancy by at least 10 years.

Cigarette smoking is one of the leading preventable causes of premature vascular disease and at least a half of smokers are killed by their habit.

In addition to causing heart attacks, cancers and strokes, cigarettes cause premature skin ageing and irreversible lung disease resulting in shortness of breath.

It is never too late to give up smoking.

Giving up smoking after a heart attack reduces your risk of having another heart attack by as much as a half. Men who quit at 40 live just 1 year less than those who have never smoked. Men who stop at 50 increase their life expectancy by 6 years. Men who gave up at 60 add an average of 3 years to their life.
